Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 18, 2026
Ambient Gallery is an Android TV / Google TV application being developed to display user-selected photos and videos from Google Photos as an ambient slideshow.
Google user data the app accesses
With the user's explicit authorization, Ambient Gallery is designed to access only the Google data required for its visible functionality:
- Google Photos media selected for the connected ambient device, including photos and videos.
- Basic Google Account profile information needed to show a privacy-safe connected-account indicator, such as the account avatar.
- OAuth authorization data required to keep the user's Google Photos connection active.
How Google user data is used
Google user data is used only to provide the user-facing Ambient Gallery experience: connecting the user's account, identifying the connected account on the TV, retrieving the media selected by the user, and displaying that media on the connected TV.
Storage and retention
Ambient Gallery is not intended to create a separate permanent copy of the user's Google Photos library. Media may be temporarily cached on the device when technically necessary for playback. Authorization information is stored only as needed to maintain the user's requested connection.
Sharing and advertising
Google user data is not sold, used for advertising, or shared with third parties for unrelated purposes. Ambient Gallery does not use Google Photos data for profiling, advertising, or marketing.
User control and deletion
Users can disconnect Google Photos from within the application. Disconnecting removes the Ambient Gallery device association and the application's locally stored authorization data. Users can also revoke the application's access from their Google Account permissions.
Google API Services User Data Policy
Ambient Gallery's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Security
The application is designed to use Google's OAuth authorization mechanisms and to request only the permissions required for the stated functionality. Reasonable technical measures are used to protect authorization data and other information handled by the application.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as the application evolves. Material changes affecting the use of Google user data will be reflected here before the new use is introduced.
